![]() One of the most impressive features of SketchUp Pro is 3D Warehouse, a huge library of free 3D models. The created design documents can be exported as PDFs, images and CAD files. From architects and builders to engineers and urban planners, SketchUp can be used by everyone. Then there are the dimensioning tools, which snap to the edges of models and allow you to quickly set format, scale and precision level of displayed measurements. You can also add elements such as line work, textures and shadows to 2D documents. The program makes it easy to turn models into animated walkthroughs and flyovers that explain every detail. It's also great for making presentation documents, supporting everything from drafting to vector illustrations. In addition to 3D models, you can also create plans, elevations, details, title blocks and a lot more, using the "LayOut" tool. Just choose from one of the many preloaded templates, select a view and you're ready to go. SketchUp Pro lets you effortlessly design highly accurate 3D models of homes (and other similar structures), all using simple click-and-release mouse actions. The help options are the worst I have ever seen. With its expansive feature set, advanced 3D modeling tools and online forums having everything from tutorials to discussions, SketchUp Pro is unquestionably the best home design software out there. There have been several times where it has taken me a half hour just to figure out how to perform a simple task. Additionally, the software is not very intuitive. ![]() I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to throw my computer through a window because it freezes and I lose an hour worth of work. For this reason alone I wouldn't recommend this product. I constantly have reliability issues with this software. I never have complete freezes on my computer that require a hard restart unless I am using PROLandscape. This is perhaps the most unreliable software I have ever used. Overall, It can do most things you need although it may take longer with this software than others. Other people in my firm who don't have that experience struggle mightily using this software. I have a background in CAD drafting which has helped in being a successful user. We are able to create professional looking designs with this software, but it is unreliable and cumbersome to use. Plant symbols can occasionally be difficult to distinguish as well, as many can be very similar. Some of the fill features are a bit clunky and can affect design legibility. I think the look of the final product could be finessed for a nicer, hand-drawn look. My clients LOVE this feature, as it makes it easy to quickly show them what I have in mind for their property when their new landscape matures, and is far easier to envision than a 2-D aerial design on paper. ![]() I also really enjoy using the PRO Landscape Photo Editor to provide my clients with a realistic view of what I have in mind for their property. Unlike some other products, plant database information is linked directly to the symbols on your plan, which helps with ease of use and keeping track of your plants. I most like that this product is developed specifically for landscape professionals, and is easy to learn and use. ProLandscape provides a professional looking output without any CAD experience required. The price point is right for those just getting started, especially with no monthly fees to worry about early on. ![]() I recommend this product to all the new designers I speak with. Good Software, Easy to learn and use, Professional Product
